How to Convert Family Favorites into Healthy Food Recipes
June 25th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedFavorite family recipes, particularly those that have been handed down the generations, tend to be high in fat, salt and/or sugar but can be modified to become much more like healthy food recipes.
The amount of sugar and salt in older recipes tends to be well in excess of the amount that is required to achieve a satisfactory taste. While it can be risky to mess with the family’s favorites, if the amount of either one is well above what similar current recipes call for, you can probably get away with cutting down the amount by about one fourth.

June 24th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedLow carb diets are largely based on premise that when you eat carbohydrates, your insulin level goes up. Insulin signals your body to store fat, so they contend that if you don’t eat carbs, your insulin will be low and your body will burn, rather than store, fat. Low carb diets tend to be very high fat diets. The older ones such as Atkins relied on meat and fats, whereas more recent versions tend to include more low-starch vegetables.
