You wont be able to seal the deal by sending over an Italian Wine Gift basket This is something that I can relate to. ! I am uniquely qualified to deal with this situation. Since I myself am the poster child for pasta lovers, I fee that I am uniquely qualified to discuss what you should and should not do when trying to impress a pasta lover. Rule #1 No Artificial Ingredients Nothing that doesn’t come from the ground should go in the sauce. If you serve jarred sauce, you are asking to be dumped. That is a big no no. After all, it’s just too simple to make a real natural dish of pasta from scratch to have to resort to such foolish measures. You can actually prepare a wonderful pasta dish from scratch in about 15 minutes or so from beginning to end. You don’t have to stoop that low. Rule # 2 Al Dente Baby, Al Dente You may not get this one right on the first shot, but it’s not too difficult. Sticky, gluey pasta is an awful thing to bare. Believe you me, that can really ruin a meal. I don’t care how good the sauce is, the experience will have been ruined. On the other hand, under cooked past will not be tolerated either. When I taste pasta that is under-cooked even worse, stuck together and hard, I want to immediately get up and leave. I HATE THAT. There is no better way to check the correct doneness of pasta than by tasting it periodically during the cooking process. Only by eating it will you get the exact doneness. Don’t waste your time or your pasta on any other method. Taste it. Rule # 3 Grate Your Own Cheese Yeah, I know, you’re in a hurry, but that is no excuse. But that just does not cut it. ! It’s not good enough Spend A few dollars more and get some good Parmesan cheese and grate it yourself. This is one of those small touches that will tell your significant other that you care. Everything I mentioned here today is serious. This is important stuff to the pasta lover. And if you are trying to lure a pasta lover down the aisle, you should listen to my advice. Am I saying that this is a magic love potion? No. But who would you rather marry if you were a pasta nut? A person who throws canned and jarred slop on the table. Or would you pick the person who made their pasta dish with love, using the finest ingredients and took the time to do it right? The choice is yours.
