Pasta is one of your best choices for a fast and easy dinner. The pasta simply needs to be added to boiling water and can be ready in under 15 minutes. And while the pasta is cooking you can prepare your desired sauce. Whether you opt for a tomato based topping, pesto or a creamy topping, you can be finished in no time. Here are some guidelines for a quick and uncomplicated pasta dish.

Don’t add the pasta to the water before it reaches a complete boil. This will keep the pasta from getting mushy and gluey. Furthermore, maintain the water at a boil continually. You can help the pasta remain firmer if you add some salt to the water. Be aware that you must not cover up the pot after you put in the pasta. You have to test periodically to establish if the noodles are cooked. Pasta cooks quite rapidly and leaving it too long can give rise to mushy noodles. When the pasta is done, remove it from the water as soon as possible. It will continue to cook if you leave it there.

With that, half of your work is accomplished. The remaining half is preparing the topping. The best feature about pasta is that there are innumerable options for adding to it. If you’re a pasta lover then having several varieties of toppings stockpiled in your refrigerator is the best route to go.

Pesto is a quick and easy topping. Add some garlic, mushrooms or possibly a little Italian sausage, top it with a handful of grated parmesan, and you have a flavorful meal in a flash. Some canned or bottled sun-dried tomatoes also work with pasta and allow you to have the benefit of tomato based pasta without the conventional topping. Top with shredded parmesan and partner it with some garlic bread for a satisfying repast. If you are in the mood for a cream-based topping, just mix some sliced olives, cream, and oregano. Top it off with some grated parmesan cheese. It’s a straightforward sauce but quite appetizing.

Olive oil is also ideal with pasta and can be fairly easy to use too. Try mixing olive oil with canned seafood or slices of meat or sausage. You can throw in some basil for taste and don’t forget the grated parmesan. If you want to experiment, try adding some spicy meat such as pepperoni.

With pasta, you’ll have a meal served in an instant. In a span of 15 to 20 minutes you will be able to prepare a nourishing repast of pasta covered with a variety of yummy toppings. With all the possible variations, it’s a quick and easy cooking dinner that you will never become bored with.
